Rob Simopoulos Co-Founder
Rob Simopoulos began his career in 1998 as a graduate of Toronto Ontario’s Sheridan College, with a degree in Security System Implementation and Design.
In 2004, Rob co-founded a startup Sonitrol dealership outside of Toronto, Canada which he grew rapidly to a leading national organization and earning national recognition. He successfully exited the company in 2009.
Late 2009, Rob entered the United States and joined Advance Technology (Scarborough, ME) as Vice President of Sales. He later became President, leading an organizational realignment, streamlining operations and introducing a unique recurring revenue model ultimately garnering various national industry awards and accolades.
In 2016, Rob saw the opportunity shifting from electronic and physical security toward cybersecurity. He transitioned from Advance Technology in 2017 and started Defendify with Co-Founder Andrew Rinaldi.
Andrew Rinaldi Co-Founder
Andrew Rinaldi began his career in 2000 as a graduate of Bentley University after earning a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Computer Science.
In 2001, Andrew co-founded Steady Vision, a Boston, MA based web design and development firm. Over the course of 16 years, Andrew helped evolve Steady Vision to one of Boston’s longest standing, boutique digital agencies.
From 2013 to 2017, Andrew oversaw operations for Steady Vision while taking a strategic advisory role with Excel Technologies and Extec Corp., sister companies headquartered in Enfield, CT. There he introduced the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to modernize the organization’s brand, culture, and operations, working internally with the executive leadership team and employees, and, externally with key partners in the United States and Europe.
Entering 2017 and splitting time between business interests, Andrew joined Rob in starting Defendify, intrigued at the prospects of carving a new path in a budding cybersecurity industry.
Seth Bailey is the Vice President of Information Security, overseeing Iron Mountain’s programs for Information Security Governance, Risk and Compliance, Archer eGRC and Third Party Risk Management (TPRM). In this role, he manages a team of security and technology professionals dedicated to protecting Iron Mountain’s brand, maintaining the company’s security posture, and supporting sales and revenue-generating operations that communicate that posture to customers, prospects and partners.
Seth has been with Iron Mountain since 2005 and in his fourteen-year tenure has progressively taken on broader roles within the company related to information security and information technology.
In addition to his current role, Seth serves on the board of advisors for Defendify, a cyber-security platform, and is a steering committee member for the Shared Assessments Program, of which he was chair of the steering committee in 2016.
Seth holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, and lives in the Boston area with his wife and their two children.
Joseph P. Doherty Jr.
Mr. Joseph (Joe) P. Doherty Jr.,rose through the executive ranks of information technology services and solution companies contributing to their growth strategy, leadership team development and solid financial returns. After retiring as a Naval Communications Officer, Mr. Doherty began his IT industry career in 1998 as an operations manager with targeted, special assignments into business development at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). In 9 years he had climbed to be the President of the largest client-facing commercial , operating unit in the company, Americas' Technology Management Group. Mr. Doherty then moved to Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of their multi-billion dollar Government Services Group, which included Federal, State & Local departments and offices. Two years into his four years with ACS (a Xerox Company), Mr. Doherty was a key member of the executive team that led to the successful, market changing acquisition of ACS by Xerox Corporation. Following his highly successful executive roles for ACS (a Xerox Company), Mr. Doherty was brought onboard by a Private Equity Company to assume Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board Member responsibilities for GCR, Inc. where he expanded the geography of the business, recruited top-talent, and focused on IP of GCR's services and suite of products. Once again, highly sought after for his now industry renown leadership and business solutions experience, Mr. Doherty was recruited by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services (HPES) to lead the company's largest Region's applications outsourcing team for HPES. He served in this role until asked to participate in the HPE and HP Inc. split and then ultimately served as V.P., Global Business Operations, for the > $18B Spin-Merge company of CSC and HPES, DXC Technology. Mr. Doherty's Naval Service saw him serve 11 years as an enlisted computer information systems specialist and nine years as a Naval Communications Officer. His business insight and strategic innovative thought was also sought out in Industry forums where he served as Vice Chairman of Center for Innovative Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He served as Chairman of CSC's Aerospace and Defense Council, and a member of the National Security Committee for the Aerospace Industries Association, the Board of Directors for the National Capital Navy League, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the National Defense Industries Association. Mr. Doherty holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland University College, a Master's degree in Business Administration from Strayer University, Board of Directors Certification from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Anderson School of Management and a Certificate in Executive leadership from the Johnson Graduate School of Management from Cornell University.

Virginia “Ginny” Lee is the Founder, Managing Partner of a boutique law firm specializing in privacy law. Previously, she was Head of Global Data Privacy and Director, Senior Corporate Counsel at ServiceNow and before that, Director – Global Privacy at Starbucks. At both companies, she was responsible for the establishment of global privacy programs. She was also Sr. Attorney – Privacy/Security at Intel Corporation, responsible for providing legal guidance on privacy and security matters, especially as they relate to “Privacy By Design”.
Prior to Intel, Ginny was the Director of Platform and Product Privacy at Yahoo! where she was responsible for the policy direction of Yahoo!’s varied products and platforms. Ginny has worked on policy, regulatory and compliance issues for the Network Advertising Initiative, a self-regulatory association for the third-party advertising industry. In addition to her legal experience, Ginny has held positions in engineering, product management and technical support. She holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maine, a MBA from the University of New Hampshire, and a JD from the University of Maine School of Law.
Ginny is also a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US, /G, IT) and Manager (CIPM) and is admitted to practice in Maine, Washington and Oregon, as well as being a registered patent attorney. She is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Maine School of Law and serves on the IAPP Privacy Bar Section Advisory Board.
Jerry King is an expert in growing early-stage companies. Most recently, Jerry served as the COO at Vets First Choice (now NASDAQ:CVET). Prior roles include COO at WHERE (acquired by eBay), VP and Board Director at C-bridge Internet Solutions (NASDAQ:CVET) and senior technology management roles in software and financial services.
Rob Knake is a Senior Fellow for Cyber Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations and a Senior Research Scientist at Northeastern University. His work focuses on Internet Governance, public-private partnerships, and cyber conflict.
Rob served from 2011 to 2015 as Director for Cybersecurity Policy at the National Security Council. In this role, he was responsible for the development of Presidential policy on cybersecurity, and built and managed Federal processes for cyber incident response and vulnerability management.
Rob is co-author (with Richard Clarke) of Cyber War The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It and The Fifth Domain Protecting Our Country, Our Companies, and Ourselves in the Age of Cyber Threats (forthcoming from Penguin Press July 2019).
Alan Wade retired from federal service at the end of 2005 after a thirty-five year career in the Central Intelligence Agency. He retired as the Chief Information Officer, a position he held since 2001.
Alan graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1973, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1978, he received his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Alan held a series of senior positions at CIA, including the Director of Communications, Director of Security, and Chief Information Officer. In his assignment as Chief Information officer, he was dual-hatted as the Chief Information Officer for the United States Intelligence Community.
During his career, Alan’s contributions were recognized several times. He is a recipient of the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the Director’s Medal, and the Distinguished Intelligence Medal.
Since retirement, Alan has worked with several early stage companies. He served on the boards of Safeboot N.V. (acquired by McAfee in 2007), Detica DFI (acquired by BAE Systems in 2008), Composite Software (acquired by Cisco in 2013) and Applied Communications Sciences (acquired by The SI Organization in 2013). He currently serves on the boards of the Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA, Professional Project Services in Oak Ridge, TN, and Siteimprove A/S in Copenhagen Denmark. Additionally, Alan serves on public sector advisory boards of several technology companies and is an investor in early stage technology companies.
Alan lives in Annandale Virginia with his wife and two children.
